Hey, eastree. The same thing happens in public schools. The Who's Who in American secondary education, is just a ploy to get parents to buy the book, and teachers are no exception. Ah, well. follow the money trail, but if it makes a kid or a teacher feel special in some way, I guess it may be worth it.
Some time back, I read a snippet in the paper about a couple of kids leaning a canvas up against a tree, throwing paint at it, then sand. The result was entered in a modern art contest, and it won first place. When the kids were later interviewed, they disclosed all and ended with the observation: "There was no talent involved."
