Why aren't my youtube clips playing smoothly?

I like to watch video clips (was watching Judge Judy) on YouTube. Lately, whenever I start one, they all play herky-jerky and stop and go. They will play a few seconds then act like a streaming picture or something. This just started - on BOTH my computers. Is there something going on on YouTube that anyone knows about, or did both my'puters just decide to start sucking all at once?

@snood,
It's always been that way for me. I start the download and go off and play freecell for awhile. Once it's loaded, I do a replay without all the interruptions. I don't watch a lot of videos for that reason.

@farmerman,
That's likely a denial of cookies. I corrected that a few years back by uninstalling, reinstalling Java and putting cookies on prompt.
