Loopholes in gaining Italian Citizenship

I currently live in Sydney, Australia and I am interested in obtaining Italian citizenship. My father was born on Italy, as where both of my grandparents. However my father became an Australian citizen when he was a minor, thus before my birth. I understnd that citizenship is only eligible for those who's parents are Italian citizens at the time of their birth, I however I am desperate to find a loophole in this. Does anyone know if there is a petition or forms you can fill in to ask for leniancy or for the Italian Immigration department to make exceptions in the rule? Any help or guidence with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sarah
