I did. And it somewhat worked.
However, olive oil is expensive. I have a new trick, which is to await natural oils by shampooing with very dilute shampoo, and doing so infrequently, now up to once every five or six days. That was about the timing back when I was a child in the 40's and 50's. Taking a bath or shampooing often in the 40's was not something a lot of people did, or even could do.
