Don't you all even try and act like you all ready knew this.

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

After all these years....I just did mine for the first time.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
When did it become aluminum foil? I still call it tin foil?

Well, I'll be darned. I never knew that and I'm guessing no one in my family did either since I never saw Grandma's or anyone elses foil box notched in on the ends. And, I spent a lot of time in Grandma's kitchen.

I'm going to use this during our bi-weekly meeting when we share tips that we've learned....

Beats learning how to recover passwords any day.

@Eva,
I sure didn't know that. With every box of aluminum foil I think it is somehow the last. I've gotten like my mother, but not quite (she gets closer to me with time).

but I did work up in the garage a set of nails and Albertson's plastic bags for -- ordinary plastic bags that I still manage to accumulate, foil, dryer felt (for the birds), and freezer bags. I wash the freezer bags while NOT wanting to, and while not wanting to buy more. Dry them piled over some spray bottle while frowning.

I'm glad to have this mishugas in the garage instead of in my small kitchen.

I too wash and reuse my zip lock baggies. No need to buy more when those are perfectly fine.

I saw my mom do this too.

Ruby, ( alu-mini-yum) would wash her tin foil and put it in a pan to heat it up to sterilize it if she used it to cover meat.

I think she was on to something..

@shewolfnm,
I've always called it "tin foil".

Who ever heard of an aluminum foil hat, for instance?
