It seems everytime I try to use the internet to get some information all I get from the search engines are web sites trying to sell me something under the guise of offering information.

For example, if I search "prostate health" I get a bunch of websites at the top of the trying to sell me some snake oils or magic herbs.

Can the good people at Able2Know please share with me and others their most trusted websites.

THANKS!!!!

@candide,
I've used WebMD and believe it or not - Oprah's website for medical information or at least valid links to more specific sources. Places like the Mayo Clinic and Sloan Kettering also offer reliable information on their sites. Never hit those little boxes on side that promise miracles, that is all advertising.

@Green Witch,
Thanks Green Witch (really).

That is just what I was looking for. I am also looking for A good holistic or natural medicine website. I hope more people come by. I will make a list. The web is just filled with junk now.

@Green Witch,
Check this site out:

http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,2806,7488,00.asp

Learn to scroll past the sponsored links, and the links touting snake oil. As Green Witch has said, for medical advice, go to the prestigious sites.....American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, etc.....

http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/prostate

I use Google mostly. Another great place to find just about anything is:

www.refdesk.com

@candide,
Hi, candide.

I use mayo clinic or web md as a starter, but they're not primarily holistic. I check the NYTimes website for past medical articles - and their Well blog is pretty good.

Also, believe it or not, harvard has a pretty good med website. Back with a link.

Also, dont be afraid to be specific with your key words.

For example, if I want to learn about the size of a door glass in a car, I will type in 1994 mercury grand marquis back rear door glass....

You dont have to limit your search to only one or two words. The more specific you are the better response you will get.

Also turn your words around. Your search does not have to be grammatically perfect. You can say health prostate medical Instead of medical health prostate etc..etc..etc..
