why would the murder of Paris stun the audience?
How is the violence in this scene different to elsewhere in the play?
Why would the two suicides affect the audience more in Shakespeare’s time than now?

It wasn't a murder. Paris initaited the fight with Romeo.

Something to do with how rapidly it all transpires, perhaps.

Think about religious attitudes.
