Many people thought that 666 stood for the world wide web because of the hebrew numerical values...

but many do not agree because the number is not 6-6-6

And speaking of phone codes, a large part of Somerville, MA's, phone numbers start with 666. Some people have suggested that's appropriate for Somerville. And eastern MA's area code is 617--we miss the alternate Number of the Beast by just one--if we're that close, can't we get partial credit?

Not to delve into any silliness, but there is not biblical consensus that '666' is the "mark of the beast". Many ancient fragments have "616". Obviously not in Arabic numerals, but in Greek.
Not that it really makes too much difference, the Book of Revelation is probably not meant to be prophetic, it is most evidently an interpretation of the plight of early "Christians/Jews" under Nero and/or similar "oppressors" of the faith. The earliest manuscripts post-date these oppressions, they do not pre-date them.
Prophesy becomes much easier after the fact, making it doubly sad that the book has become the basis for "rapture" interpretations by some Christian denominations.

I think they said Martin Luther king Jr., and William Clinton did also...

But I do not believe that it is indicative of the Antichrist...

666 is the number of the beast of Revelation 13: 10-18.
A beast in prophecy is a nation, therefore, every nation have a beast as their ensign. The number of any beast/nation is the number of people that govern the nation/beast. Therefore, 666 is the number of people that govern the nation of the beast of Revelation 13: 10-18. The question is which nation rightly depict the symbol of Revelation 13? Once the nation is identified then you can count the number of people that governs it.
