How do I learn the art of bantering?

Reply Mon 29 Dec, 2008 11:31 pm
I see so many a2k'ers who are so good at poking fun at others and have spirited conversations or just one liners that are so funny. I would really like to learn how to banter. I am too serious most of the time, especially with people I don't know...the shy gene. So is there any hope for me?

@bathsheba,
I don't know either, but online, try extra hard not to be misunderstood. Things aren't always taken the way you intended.

@bathsheba,
Hi Bathy, if 'bantering' means the same as 'yabbering' maybe this is a good place to start, http://able2know.org/topic/111721-1 Laughing

Plenty of variety, laughs and drama, they're a fantastic bunch of people.

@bathsheba,
Here's likely a good place to practice.

Just bounce off stuff you see around here....I do think it is partly a skill you can learn, and it is a great, if footling, pleasure in life.

Hmmm...how may we begin to bant?

@bathsheba,
In the spirit of being helpful, from time to time, you might acknowledge those who do respond to you. Everybody likes to be noticed.

Well - the queen of banter here is da wabbit - above! (also known as dlowan)

It does appear to require a certain wit and skill and the ability to use same!

Some of us just ain't got it!

@Dutchy,
I agree, Dutchy. They all seem like a great bunch of people. I took a peek at the thread and maybe this is not the time to dip in. I don't know 1/2 the people there either which doesn't help......so I'll just wander about a bit Smile

@bathsheba,
I think it's a good start.

You have the wool...so git knittin'!

When you can see again, of course.

For now it seems you need to go to sleep, having drunk mucho water, had a Vitamin B complex, an aspirin, and more water.

Sweet snoozlin'.
