Firefox keeps freezing since update

Ever since Firefox automatically updated itself to the latest version (2.0.0.18), it keeps freezing, usually when I have more than 5 tabs open.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Has it got something to do with the latest version, a bug of some sort, or is it probably just something with my computer?

I dont have any problems with Internet Explorer, other than that I dont like it very much...

What should I do?

@nimh,
This is more by way of bumping than anything, cos I am a Luddite.

Have you thought of re-downloading the whole thing?

The uber-nerds are raving about Google Chrome.

@nimh,
I haven't restarted since the update so I don't know. But I'll try it now and see what happens, productivity be damned.

@nimh,
I thought the current version was 3.0.4.

@DrewDad,
If you're on the Firefox 3 branch. I didn't upgrade to FF 3.

BTW, nimh, I'm doing fine with the update so far. I've got 9 tabs open and some flash running and everything is ok. I'll watch it for a while.

@nimh,
don't know if it's the same problem or not, but mine seems to get lost since the update.

I will navigate to a new page, and it will be unable to find it, and then lock up...

(i been hunting a worm, but have had no luck)

and it's worse with multiple pages up.

@FreeDuck,
I'm still using FF 2.0.0.18 and haven't noticed a freeze up problem with multiple tabs open either. I almost always have 6 tabs open and then add other ones as I have need.

If I were in your shoes, I'd go to Firefox 3.

@DrewDad,
All I know was that I got this Firefox message that the browser had been updated with a new version, and since then it's been freezing up. But if this isn't actually the latest version, I wonder what that was about.

I should just update to the latest version I guess. Or to be on the safe side uninstall this Firefox altogether and then download the latest version from scratch?

@nimh,
That last is probably the one most likely to resolve your problem without tedious troubleshooting.

I just switched to Firefox for regular browsing, because IE 7 kept locking up when I'd close a tab. 3.0.4 is pretty solid for me.
