@squinney,
FAS was mentioned as a possible problem....it was also a difficult birth and the chord was wrapped around BPBJRS neck causing concern about blood flow to the brain...both mom and son had elevated blood pressure because of it.... one thing for sure is that he has actual physical damage to his neural net.... a genetic misfire of some sort.... epilepsy does not occur in either side of the family...the low IQ and learning disabilities may or may not be connected to the epilepsy... I prefer , rather than trying to figure out why or who or what outside of finding a way to control his seizures of course, to view his condition as a perfect **** storm of bad luck.
Not trying to sound melodramatic but I am racked with pain about my son every waking minute of my life and would take his problems into myself gladly for him to have a normal life.
When you watch him you see every single good quality and realize that but for this one genetic anomaly, Stephen was programmed to be outgoing, social, athletic, musical and a leader. He attempts all these things and uses all these attributes to the best of his ability all the time and could function way above what his testing shows him capable of were he not double whammied by the seizures. As I said, a perfect **** storm.
