Great band ideas

I am thinking of starting an all-xylophone AC/DC cover band. Great idea, right? All the great music of AC/DC without all the unnecessary excesses, such as the driving beat, powerful bass lines, rockin' guitar solos and singing. I can't wait to get this idea off the ground!

So that's my great band idea. Got any of your own? Put 'em here! I'd love to steal, er, I mean, hear, them.

@kickycan,
I've always wanted to front a Black Sabbath / Dio covers only Polka band.

@kickycan,
The world is crying out for an acoustic folk duo specialising in Sepultura covers.

Perhaps before we brainstorm, we should review what has gone before (so we don't double up):

While Hayseed Dixie is a great idea (country versions of AC/DC songs) and Big Daddy was pretty funny (proto rock n roll combo is captured in the Korean War and released 30 years later and do mid fifties versions of mid 80s songs) my favourite is still Dread Zepellin (Elvis Presley didn't die, he joined a reggae band that only plays Led Zepellin covers).

I want to do groovy rap versions of crappy 70s music like "Gypsys, Tramps and Theives" and "Indiana Wants Me" and "DOA".

Yeah I remember
We were flying
Low
And we hit something
In the air, dawg.

@hingehead,
Hingehead, don't forget Richard Cheese and his lounge versions of rock classics and, with a shout out to DrewDad, I'll mention the Brave Combo with their polka versions of all manner of things. (The Inna Godda Da Vida Polka, anyone?)

@boomerang,
There was a band called Bring Philip in Sydney in the early 80s who's instrumentation consisted of things they found at the rubbish tip. And more recently there's a band, ah here it is, called Toy Death where every instrument is an electronic toy.

I just heard about these guys for the first time last week during a conversation that started because I went to see Lez Zeppelin, an all-girl Zep cover band. They weren't bad, by the way, but I must see Dread Zep next!

@kickycan,
Gotta admit a fondness for the Dread zep boys myself.

Thanks Hingey, I'd forgot about them...

Do they do that song? Because that would be something. Maybe not a good something, but definitely something.

I couldn't find the Inna Godda Da Vida one but here's their version of People Are Strange Polka: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RNlyroWHlVA

And while I'm at it, here's Richard Cheese doing Closer: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BavqDspO3k8&feature=related
