LOL! Reminds me of last holiday season as my teens and I were walking through food court at the mall. One teen said to the other "I smell bacon." Other Teen says "Oh, yeah" as he spots the plainclothes man to our left.
Having no idea what they were talking about, but having just seconds before noticed the same smell, I said "Me too. I wonder where it's coming from." (Both kids look at me with big eyes indicating I should lower my voice) I continue, "I can't figure out why I smell bacon. No one in this section serves bacon. Why do we smell bacon by the ice-cream and Chik-Fil-A?"
Son took my arm and started walking faster. They didn't point out the reason for their response until we got home.
