Life's too short.

Too short for little stuff getting in the way of family, friends and happiness, I mean.

And too short to waste time with petty selfish people.

Like, I dunno, if I lend someone four books, they get lost, and that person tells me, well they were used, dog-eared books anyway so I'll offer you to buy you an Amazon gift card that you can buy two of the books anew with - well, then I'd be pretty pissed to be honest. You lost it, you replaced it, period - kinda.

My motto is, never ever, ever, ever, ever lend a book.

Give it away or keep it, but don't lend it.

That's so true! I loaned a real important book to me, Shogun, with the author's autograph, James Clavell, on it to my brother-in-law, and he lost the book.

I have this signed copy of Shogun that I picked up at a yard sale in Cupertino. Anybody interested in buying it?

"Who's right?"

That's easy - I'm right. End of story.
