Have not done this puzzle, however I suggest,

235a = mousy
38d = berg
195d = cassata
285d = whig

No idea at this stage re 143d. Sorry.

Hi welshlady,

I too have not done this puzzle but at 143d the answer to that clue is normally DE RIGUEUR. Can't explain the ?de. Hope this has been of some assistance.
