I was recently confronted with this problem and I am not sure of the steps to take to solve it.
28% of a salary is 1200$ what would 100% of the salary be?
28% of salary is 1200
in mathematical terms:
28/100*x=1200 (x being the salary)
Find x:
(multiply both sides with 100 and divide by 28)
x=100/28*1200
= 4285.71
So the salary is $4285.71.
100% of which is all of it!
An easy way to remember the relationship is to consider how many percentage points make up the 1,200. The answer, of course, is 28 of them. So, because 28 of them total 1,200, each point has to be equal to 42.875 ( 1200 divided by 28 ). So if each point = 42.857 then 100 of them--100%--- would equal 4285.7 ( multiply 42.875 by 100 ).
100/28 = 3.57
3.57 X 1200 = $4285.77
Don't people do math using decimals in lieu of fractions anymore?
.28X=1200
1200 divided by .28= $4285.71
Dr Huff's method is easiest to remember.
