A rainbow through water

I had to water some plants this morning although it was sunny, and I could see a rainbow through the water coming out of the hose. When I moved the hose then the rainbow stayed within the water flow. Is it something scientific or have I got funny eyes?

Ah . . . it appears you are suffering from ocular sequential quantization of spectral refraction.

Actually, "You can create your own rainbow by facing 180 degrees from the sun and spraying mist from a garden hose in front of you in a circular motion, outlining a 360 degree 'rainbow'".

Stand with your legs further apart if you wish to get rid of the effect.

Which I wouldn't if I was you.

It's unlikely to be your eyes. You would have noticed before if there is a problem in that respect.

Thanks for that Dr Huff. Spendi, it was a lovely rainbow and quite made up for all the digging I'd done.

Have you tried it off the balcony or garage roof. I've heard that there are fantastic effects that way. Especially with floodlights.
