Recommend a Camera for a Low Budget Indie Film...

I'm planning on buying a Canon XL H1 for an ultra low budget Indie film I'm directing. Is there anyone that would give an opinion either for or against, and if against what other camera would you recommend?

I am not familiar with that camera. Here is a list of threads where different cameras where discussed though.

Most of the discussion you linked to got off on either low-end cameras or snapshots.
