Re: European court to declare chimp a 'person'?
It might well be that you're pretty good European (and especially Austrian) law.
As far as I understand it, it's up to the Court of Human Rights to get a ruling wether the chimpanzee is to be conserdered as a person (not human) or human - the legal grounds in Austria required for a guardian to be appointed.
And so the result might be quite interesting: who is the bearer of human rights? Who is a person according to the European Human Rights Charter?
If the court accepts to hear this case, that is.
