Is it old-fashioned to still call them records?

i'll call the media what it is, record, tape cd

as for the material on said media, i'll say album (the new dylan album)

my confusion is what to call the store that sells them, i still say record store, some people say music store, but to me that's a place that sells instruments and sheet music

The term I use is "leipfst."

I like it because I made it up, and when I say it no one around me knows what it means, and so they assume it's cutting-edge lingo, my use of it in turn making me a cutting-edge guy. So cutting-edge, most people can't help but give me an annoyed look or a punch in the balls.

Anyways, I'm bored with you losers. I'm going home to listen to my favorite Tony Orlando leipfst.

PEACE

I've noticed that 'artists' here usually refer to album release events when they're on the marketing trail. Haven't heard the term record in a long time.

Calling them records is like calling a fridge an ice box. People still call it that (just ask Emeril), even though it hasn't existed for years. It actually is the opposite of being old fashioned - its slang now.

There's always a way to twist something to the positive.

"Slang," that's perfect. Laughing

We actually have an ice box (on the boat).

I still call them records sometimes. But I'll say C.D, too. Or simply disc. AND album. I use them interchangeably.

I like the word icebox too....just reassuring...the same way watching Andy Griffith before I go to bed is. Simpler, easier time - I guess.
