Like me, you need better light, or better glasses.
I agonised over the clue for hours, put it aside, came back to it next day and realised it was ALIMENT, not AILMENT.

It is so much fun - if you don't tear your hair out! Laughing

I think lezzles is correct with this one, I have just looked at the clue with a magnifying glass and it does say aliment, a gremlin maybe?? I also have trouble wirh the small printing lezzles. Shocked Shocked

Encarta Concise Dictionasry states:

ALIMENT = something that feeds, sustains, or supports something else.

ALIMENTARY = 1. relating to food orf nutrition. 2. providing nourishment, sustenance, support, or maintenance.

Yes Dutchy,
I agree with you(of course) I checked it all out after I posted as I have only done a little bit in the colossus. i's and l's look the same sometimes I hate Iliad,have to get the magnifier out for that one.

i started a bit of a discussion there but always learning
i did read it wrong now i will pay more attention 2 the clues
not the first time i have been caught out and i do need glasses
only need a few more answers just can't handle not finishing a crossword
been doing lovatts 4 years only ever won 1 prize

116d = SENTENTIOUS You had 118d which does not exist!
216d = ISOTOPE
