Grey

It has been so dark today
Grey
London streets
hit by rain
Water streaming veins
down windowpanes
Smoke pouring grey into white
from chimneystacks
that spear the evening sky
Pointing at grey clouds storming by
Or dust coating some old picture frame
A grey eyed man and many more the same
Men turned grey well before their time
Greyed right out, like Vincent in his prime
Grey
Grey like my brain
Newspaper mush caught like slush
in the mouth of a drain
Yeah, that's grey alright
The moment of turning from day to night
To black from white
Darkening light
When colours fade away
and everything is washed out
That is grey

Endymion 2008

I know writing poems about colour is probably something you did back in school - but I never got the chance then. I like the idea of colour representing a mood and would be pleased to read some of your poems about different colours and what they make you think of (including grey, if you like, and as many times as you like - we all see things differently).

thanks

Sepia

historical depictions
tobacco addiction
nicotine stains
a sky before a storm
a field full of corn
before thunder and rain
An old photograph
behind oval glass
in a tarnish brass frame
black coffee sipped slow
in evening's last glow
that seeps slowly away

the suns rays at noon ablaze
leaves on whispy autumn days
the coulour of happiness
kharma says
the first one to catch our eye
the one that pulls us around the sky
whistle at the taxi cabs in the usa
i ask do you like butter?
as in fields of flowers we pay
difuse the light through prisms
set colour free from prison
wash away magnolia sleep
with brightess lightness
tones that leap, from paintings
like sunflowers by vangough
heres a tip for all
dont eat yellow snow Laughing
i love this idea endy, i particularly like "sepia" keep em coming xx

hey, mcee fya

i liked your poem

all night i've had different colours going through my mind - like i just can't stop thinking about colour- i think my brain likes the idea of focusing on something that isn't about politics or **** -
On the face of it it seem pretty basic - but i think there may be some beautiful poetry written here about colours (which are, after all, beautiful)

natures beauty
tainted booty
egyption princes
signs of richness
it gives man powers
above the rest
onboard a pirates ship
in treasure chests
stolen cargo from a quest
they blasted rock in the west
and now it hangs above her breast
melted moulded and compressed
the golden necklace
