Using old DirectTV receiver as a digital to analog converter

I have a Sony B50 DirectTV satellite receiver and was wondering if I could use it as a digital to analog converter box for an analog tv I have. I don't plan on subscribing to DirectTV or cable. My friend gave me the box b/c he didn't need it. I was hoping to MacGyver the DirectTV receiver and drag my analog tv into the twenty-first century. Any advice or info much appreciated.
