I know the offers, but I still drink. Still, I don't drink that much. Why is it that customers always want to drink with the servers?

No, the customers think you'll give them a good deal next time they come in if they buy you a drink at closing.

Are you sleepy yet? Try reading? Try a crossword puzzle? Warm milk? A brisk walk around the block?

A2K won't help you get sleepy! But, until you do get there, it's a nice place to pass some time.

Clam chowder! Mmmm, warm, rich, creamy, .... knocks me right out.

That, and french toast loaded with butter and maple syrup.

Why is it certain foods make me nap?
Sugar coma? Dairy?

Hi all. Finally fell asleep about 6 a.m. ~ up at 9 a.m. Back down for a nap at 13:00. Going to try and change things around over the weekend ~ even though I'm not working, it just seems easier to do on the weekends. Strange.

Anyway.....littlek ~ actually, I found that being without smokes made me more sleepy.

Even though I have a habit of sleeping two to three hours a night in the summertime, I believe my insomnia is due to the fact that I'm not working and not keeping myself busy enough during the day. Me and exercise do NOT get along, so I'm going to force myself to be up at 6 a.m. each day.....hopefully, that'll help.

In any case.....I'm batting down the hatches for another long night.....

Everyone is welcome.....

Hiya, CB! My last job (at a hotel) was attached to a fabulous restaurant where the chef made a marvelous clam chowder.....I haven't had a bowl of his chowder in two months now.....after having it every day for lunch for about six months..... Crying or Very sad

CBorg- I have no idea, it seems different foods do it for different people. Maybe it speaks to the root of the insomnia. To each his own!

Good luck Rae.

There is a great list of sleep-inducing foods on the Dr. Sears website (www.askdrsears.com), I'm off to beddy-bye myself but should be easy to find with a search, it's developed for kids but works for adults. Really works! Dairy is good, we use yogurt a lot on the kiddo.

(Will post link tmw if requested.)

For those with periodic insomnia - has anyone tried magnesium?

It's quite effective as it's the yang to calcium's ying.

Magnesium? Food? All interesting and I would certainly try them. But if anyone ever comes up with a brain-antidote, a way to turn it off and shut it up, I would be most appreciative.

Meditation.

Seriously. Works great.

Your state of mind can be influenced a great deal
just by deliberately practicing various thought and breathing exercises.
Or with intense physical workout.

Our bed/futon has metal sides shaped sort of like a shallow "M". I often find that putting a pillow over the dip in the "M" and laying my head on it triggers pressure points, and most often, I fall asleep very quickly, providing I find the right ones Smile

I will try the meditation. Serious work-outs occur earlier in the day and have lost their effect by bed time. It normally happens when I have much problematic material on my mind.

Slow, deep breathing does indeed accompany this practice....lie on your back, and don't forget to turn your palms to the sky...that is supposed to release relaxing Beta waves.
