Hie guys,

My husband and I have been married for 1 year now. I am a French and Irish citizen living in the UK. He is South African and has his ILM (Idefinite leave to remain) but wants a passport as it would make life easier. I know that for UK we need to wait 5 years being in the country? Is that correct? Or should he go for the french one?

Merci!

There's no such thing as EU citizenship.

As you are French, your husband can apply for French nationality but it's no easier than in the United Kingdom:

Acquisition de la nationalité française par mariage
