Well my take is this: a poet who makes revolution (perhaps) with poetry/words. (I haven't read your link - this my personal interpretation of the term.)
You know, "the pen is mightier than the sword", and all that! (And it is, particularly when used by talented poets!)

He was an activist AND a poet AND A warrior AND a musician, hence the dashes.
I'm sure this is just big joke but seriously, R R Kirk was a fierce musician and political spokesman and his shows consisted of music and comedy and poetry and politics. He was all that and then some.
