i believe your TRANSFER (ueberweisung) only works if you have the recipients account number .
when i was still working for a large insurance company we issued quite a few cheques BEFORE the due date (now it is done mostly by automatic transfer to customer account) .
in front of the due date we would print in large letters : DO NOT CASH BEFORE xx-xx-xxxx , both to tell the customer and the bank .
in those days we had no problems with early cashing - but that is some time ago .
