@ehBeth,
I am loading up potted plants to take over to mr vw's.

his great guppy harvest is tomorrow.

gonna enhance his garden from mine, and then leave them there until I get settled elsewhere.

I am over there most days, so watering my stuff will not be a problem. (he never waters)

and watching utube vids on being my own electrician.

this will be my biggest solo job.

hafta set my own meter box and enter the house with power. then it's all downhill from there...

@Rockhead,
In England you have to hire a qualified electrician to do any electrical work in the home, or have a qualified electrician certify that the work is satisfactorily completed - it involves loads of paperwork. Same applies to having double glazing installed - more paperwork! You're brave to take yours on alone!

@vonny,
here, we believe in don't ask, don't tell...

I will prolly hafta have an inspection somewhere along the way.

we'll cross that bribe, I mean bridge, when we get there...

and I'm not brave, I'm poor.

there's a difference.

kinda the same reason I'm a rigger...

@Rockhead,
Yes, but you can turn your hand to almost anything. Some people just aren't capable of wiring up a plug without fusing the lights! My husband, bless him, for one. Laughing
We've lived here for a long time, and the electrics needed renewing when we moved in - but it took a lot of saving up over a lot of years to be able to afford to have the place rewired - and by that time, the wiring was physically unsafe!

Somehow I think that you'll make as big a success of the wiring as of everything else you do and have done. Good luck.

Is that the smartest option? No, we know the answer to that.

Yes, you need a permit, so why not get someone qualified to do both? Once you have service, you can do the rest. Surely you know a licensed electrician who can do that for cheap?

@Ticomaya,
it's really not rocket science.

I work with a lot more juice wiring stage trusses...

I won't do anything I'm not comfortable with.

and everything will be checked by a real electrician before we hook up live juice...

@Rockhead,
I'm sure you'll make a good job of it. If anybody can, you can. Smile

@Ticomaya,
While you are giving free cheap advice, where does one go to see the ordinances pertaining to fence height and razor wire allowabilities...?
