Long ago (43 yrs.) and in another galaxy far away, their first album was a masterpiece of heavy metalosity...but it was the only one of theirs that had ever reached number 1 (until now). In the 43 years since, they never had a number one until last week. In fact, I believe that this is the first since 1978 with Ozzy singing lead (?).
Though admittedly I was not a huge fan of the type of music, I listened to them in awe. I admired them as one of the best of the genre and great musicians.
Now, fast fwd 43 yrs, and many lifetimes. They've recently added a talented young drummer and they have had a surprising renewal.
Here is the first cut on 13, this best selling-LP...which, BTW, has now reached number 1.. IMHO, this album is one of the best hard rockers I've heard in a few years. Here are a few examples:
