That does not always mean what you think it means. I say it very often when I am sympathetic to a person's plight. I don't mean poor idiot or whatever it is folks say it means. Of course - you always say it when someone is in a bad situation so it sounds like you could mean that.
But no - I did not say that. I walked away from him while he was still talking. I was bad. Very, very bad. His wife looked like she was horrified at my rant.
Once my blood pressure went down I was too.
