@izzythepush,
City Hall - strewth, that brings back memories! And the swimming pools that were all part of the same building? Victorian, but soooo much better than most modern ones, with really high diving boards. The Haymarket, Grey Street, Northumberland Street, the Theatre Royal - those were the days!!!

@Rockhead,
You aren't a machine! Rest man!!!

Takeout gumbo! Makes our local takeaway sound a bit wimpy - fish and chips or a chinese!

@vonny,
I was there between 79 and 83. I bet things have changed a lot since then. It's bloody freezing in Southampton right now, I hate to think what it's like up there.

I remember the Kard Bar with fondness, and still read Viz avidly.

@izzythepush,
Earlier for me - haven't been back there since 1981 -miss it still though. Lots of changes - I look at it on Google maps sometimes and am amazed at how it's spread! My school never changes though - groan - keep wishing it had vanished off the face of the earth! But the Dene is still there - although I hear it's not half as lovely now - and a lot of the city centre remains the same. Happy memories!

@Rockhead,
Play this loudly enough and it'll shake the snow off the roof!

@Rockhead,
Don't laugh - I had to google it -

Quote:
A do-rag (also known as a doo-rag, du-rag, or durag), is a piece of cloth used to cover the top of one's head. Sometimes made of nylon material and having a "skullcap" fit it may also be referred to as a "wavecap". According to the Oxford English Dictionary and Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term derives from 'do as in hairdo

I feel like I've crossed a barrier...

I finally had to join the Ebay.

mr vw broke a cheesmo alarm fob, and the customer went apeshit on him.

(this is one of the myriad of reasons why I have a no alarms rule)

and the only one I could actually lay hands on was on the Ebay.

so one paypal account and 3 big hassles later, it is on the way from the ether...
