Lovatts Holiday No63-Giant Cryptic
Hi Greenee
For 32A I have addicted and for56D I have didactic. Don't worry about being slow as I also have been dragging the chain. Only finished monster colossus earlier today. Please wait or someone to confirm my cryptic answers as I stumble through cryptics. Good Luck

32d adduced (maybe?)

I'm fairly sure of this one:

56d didactic

did - act (part of play) ic (in charge)

didactic means educational (so does edifying)

Thanks heaps Tuesday. Still have most of them to go in the collection. But will get there. I can see how you got the answers so am happy with them. I am learning at cryptics and usually get help from the mother in law. See she is handy.

thanks and have a great night.

Could anyone help me with 61 across, and did anyone have tartar for 54 down, or did they go for tartan?

Hi piemanbulldog

For 61a the answer is "ARSENIC". Can be found in the clue - hoARSEN NICotine contains a nasty poison.

54d is indeed "TARTAR" from rat turned around twice.

Good luck with your entry.

Thanks dutchy. I got arsenic, and the reason I thought it may be tartan is rat backwards (of course) but on top of brown material . . . .but that would be tar also. Thanks again

Oh. Did you get paring for 50D.
Good luck with your entry. Ever won one of these? I got one about 4 years ago??!!!

Yes I did have 'paring' for 50 down. 'pa' from 'dad, and 'ring' from call.

Never won a major prize in 15 years of competing, a number of small ones, but it is good fun trying.

Good Luck with your entry.

Dutchy, I've been getting into the editor's challenge in Collosus recently. Do you do them? My kids ripped the bejesus out of my last edition, but did you get an answer for it? I did the others successfully.
I'm buying the last collosus tomorrow, so don't give an answer for that one (yet) it would ruin my week.

Speak to ya soon.

Hi piemanbulldog, I am so glad to hear from someone else who likes the Editor's Challenge. I need help with each issue because they are really tricky. Except in my opinion the latest one in the colossus 114 is easier than the previous issues. More than happy to exchange ideas with you in future - its my favourite.

Hello all,
I've got TARTAN because tan is a shade of brown and tartan is a material. I hope this helps!
