Don't feel bad....or weird....I am extremely tactile....i have to feel everything. Walking through a clothing store I am running my hand along the racks. If something looks like it feels nice I have to see if it does.

Everyone thinks I am weird but whatever.

Colored glass.

Take me to any art festival, and you'll find me in front of the art glass. Particularly if it's outside in the sunlight.

Take me to any antique store, and you'll find me looking at old glass pieces.

Take me to any jewelry store, and you'll find me in front of the colored stones.

I can spend hours in bead stores.

You must like Murano glass then, Eva.

I just looked and there's a Bassetti location in Parma, but not where I saw that window. But... your example, CJane, was very like I'm remembering, sob...

Gasp! The curtains and above links are awesome.

Oh, yeah, I could do containers, too. Baskets, boxes, but they have to be clean lines or really unique... and big enough to hold pretty fabrics. Very Happy

I would buy sheets and coverlets just to stack them like in a glass front cabinet or, leave out on a counter top.

But, we all know that only looks right in catalogue's, right?

And boxes, trunks, containers made of wood, metal, paper, basket weave, anything, as long as it's got a lid on it.

I could open a shop of wooden boxes Embarrassed I don't know how it happened.

(well, I do, but I try to deny it)

So, how did it happen, ehBeth?

I'm thinking Eva likes shiney glass bobbles... She must really have wings. Shocked

At the Chicago gathering last year, I picked up a new Murano paperweight that looks very similar to the one in the upper left below (the tree.)

Found it in the museum shop at the Art Institute. (Wonderful place!)

beautiful rich colors and patterns in the two you have shown. Do you also like quilts?

Sometimes. But I prefer the translucency/transparency of glass. I collect art glass perfume bottles, too. (I have several similar to these.)

What is it about the boxes, ehbeth? I've been trying to figure it out for years. I rarely put anything in the many of the boxes. It's just the box itself.

I have one similar to yours, Eva. And other things (vases, candy dish) from Murano.

Baskets, I have to have baskets. The stuff in them can be the same size or even smaller (so I'm not saving any space) but I gotta have the baskets. And blue glass. Bought a set of very small blue glass bottles, I think it was maybe a year after we moved here, and I still love them; they're scattered around the mantel.

I loved the curtains on the previous page. Eva, we have stained glass on the window by our landing. There's a window seat there and everything. One of these days, when I have money (which'll be any day now Wink), I'll make that window seat nice, and also find a way to insulate it (it's freakin' freezing there right now) and then it'll really be somethin'.

Boxes. I'm sure there's something symbolic and meaningful about loving things with lids.

I think that, for me, it's the potential to be useful. It's the same thing as the textiles I like - I'm not much for decorative objects.

(don't judge me by the tchotchkes in here, they're gifts that MUST be purged, as lovely as some of them are)

I used to be weak for baskets but willed myself away from them for sheer lack of space. Still have alot tho. Very Happy

I had tons of baskets. When we moved a few years ago I got rid of most of them at via yard sale.

The next day I was shopping with daughter for new things for the house and she grabbed my arm to pull me out of an aisle we had been standing in for ten minutes.

It was the basket aisle.

Maybe baskets and boxes are some indication of a need (or desire) to be organized. I think that was my intention even though they didn't end up organizing anything.
