And here's a word of advice, "according to doctor philbots life lesson number one you either get it or you dont!" Besides, I think MR CAV deserves his own forum and can pose as a Dr Phil like figure! All in favor of MR CAV, not husker who lacks the sense of humor, say I!
Oh Gosh! That was humor!!!!
The difference between me and Dr. Fill McCrack is that I never claim that my advice is valid. I also don't know Oprah.
Ouch, husker, my frontal lobe hurts....
Dys as a redneck just ain't agonna fly Red. That's really him, too.
What bothers me most about Dr. Fill is that he enjoys so much popularity. I've felt the same way about Oprah and others along the way as well. I can't bear to watch DrF's show however, I get sick and start throwing up. And that Texas accent and that stupid grin.........he's a dime store psychologist whose makin a bundle however. I think it demonstrates the wish so many of us have for someone who will just tell us how to do something right and guarantee some amount of safety. But Dr.F is not for me. No sireeeeeeeeeee...
The crunchy parenting board I frequent often erupts in fury at this fella, though I've never seen him. Lovely things like saying the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends weaning at 6-12 months, when in fact they recommend that babies be breastfed for AT LEAST one year, and then continue "as long as mutually desired." He skews heavily towards "enough with the baby, pay attention to the MAN already."
I've seen derPhil a couple of times when travelling. Maybe I lucked out, but I thought he was funny. Both of the shows I caught were about how men don't listen. On one show they'd taped a few guys totally missing the point of what their wives were saying. Not hinting. Saying. He basically told them to smarten up and pay attention if they hoped to stay married. His advice didn't seem that strange to me.
Then again, I don't plan to go out of my way to ever watch the show again.
Methinks I shall stay away from Lola tonight...
Eva, you have nothing to fear from me....others maybe, but not you.
Whew! That was close!
Others on A2K, or IRL?
doctor phil, says to me. i make money! and thats what i care about. i think that people should give advise for free. i do and i don't mind that i am not paid millions of dollars to tell someone what i think they should do.
i think if we all just help each other then it's a lot cheaper.
however some of us have no training..... an education can be helpful but I think Dr. Phil didn't get out of kindergarten.
