I planted pole beans this spring. They are now all about five feet high, yet here it is, late August, and I have no beans. None, nada. Are pole beans "late bloomers?" What could cause this, or do I need to be more patient? - Thanx, Mike

Well, they will actually grow a lot bigger than that, 10-12' or more, if you let them. I usually let them fall back down on themselves or they get too high to pick. They require good soil (use a balanced fertilizer) and plenty of water. Feed them and water regularly, you will be rewarded with plenty of tender and tasty beans.

By the way, what kind did you grow? I've found the best flavored and textured to be Blue Lake Pole.
