Okay.

It's probably time for me to fess up about why I started this thread.

Mo found a pair of my funky old Buddy Holleyesqe glasses and wanted to wear them so we took out the lenses.

Then he wanted to wear them to school because he thought he looked "so cool" in them.

He was told he couldn't wear the glasses anymore because he might hurt the feelings of kids who really had to wear glasses.

I'm still all like "Huh?"

When I dropped him off at school that day the one little girl in his class who wears glasses (she is also one of his best friends at school) was so happy to see him wearing them so I'm doubly surprised that Mo's "invisible glasses" were a problem.

I didn't know I was supposed to be offended by the fashion glasses people but now that I know I'm supposed to be offended, I'm offended.

So that's why we need to stand up for bespectacled selves and crush the fashion glasses people.

I am four eyes, hear me roar
Because I can't see any more,
And I can no longer fudge it and pretend...
Cos I ran into the door
And I fell down on the floor,
Now my leg bends where it didn't ought to bend!!!!

Oh yes, I can see!
But it's through some window pane,
They cost a hundred P!
But look how much I gain,
If I have to, I can see anything,
They are strong (strong!)
My eyes invisible (invisible)
I am four eyes!

Well, I'm wearing contacts. Does this count too?

boomer, I think the teacher went to far here. If there is only one child
in class with glasses and she likes Mo's fake ones, who is the teacher
to judge? Sometimes they make problems where there aren't any.

Eva, reporting for duty.

Count me in. I've worn glasses since fourth grade and love 'em.
I'd add them to my avatar if I knew how.

Mine look a lot like these, except in a golden copper finish.

These aren't too bad looking, given the choices available for me - a kind of pewter finished metal frame sturdy enough to hold trifocal lenses.

I really like Mac11's, but they're too delicate for my lenses.

I still have my grandmother's wire rims... I wore them for a while, with lenses for me, when I was, say, sixteen.

My other pair - which I like better - are a kind of prussian blue and purple metal, from Japan; the brand name and number are worn off, since I use a cord held on by a plastic tether thing on that pair.

I know that's schoolmarmish, but it's handy - does anyone know what that figure 8 plastic thingy is called? Or where one can buy them? I have this probably preposterous idea of making my own jeweled "cords" from old necklaces.

osso, these are the best eyeglass holder thingys I have found. You used to be able to get them at Walmart but mine no longer carries them. I am going to try Michael's or a hobby store next. I have used them on old necklaces and they work well.

I find i look somewhat intelligent with glasses on.

Of course, I only use them for reading.

Tai chi, now I remember our conversation on this. We've a Walmart, gag, and a Michael's, only a semi-gag, not too far away.

Future fun for me.

Now, back to check out dadpad's posts...

My glasses are like Eva's, also kind of a goldtone colored frame.

I have eyeglass holder things but they're more sporty and I only use them for my shades. I got them at a beach accessories place on Cape Cod. They aren't exactly for work but they do hold the glasses very well. Can't imagine doing anything sporty (like horseback riding, ride a bike, etc.) without 'em.

Been wearing specs since I was 16.

Dadpad -- they look really good on you! Smile

Can I have my thirty pieces of silver?

I got my first glasses in springtime and can remember being thrilled to be able to see the little leaves on the trees that everyone was talking about.
