I thought ads was likely but couldn't see how it fitted with wood-shaping tool.... still learning cryptics but getting there slowly...

I think it is the pronounciation of "ads" connects it with "wood-shaping tool" - 'adze', and ofcourse 'classifieds' is the other clue.
