Onyxelle, I recently finished Portrait... I thought it was very well written and interesting, but as to what can you expect -- what you see is what you get...

re-reading Chocolat before I return it to the woman who forced me to borrow it. She was right. I loved it once I got past the first 3 or 4 pages.

I'm off to Portland in the a.m. and plan to stop by Powell's on Friday. A great place to fill in some holes in one's collection. And Oregon has no sales tax...

I'm hoping they have more Nicola Barker titles than they did last time. None of her earlier novels and collections have been published in the U.S.

Hmmm, I wonder about that Wood Butcher book -- I begin to think McTag's book questions are dangerous! I did another search for that book and ended up spending a bunch of money at abe.com (Art of Fine Tools and Woman from Otawi Crossing). Then I proceeded to buy a bunch of book jacket covers from Brodart Supplies which is great place to browse. (Who'd have thought there were library chairs that had two positions -- leaning forward and leaning back?)

Btw, I am still slowly reading the forward to my copy of Tristram Shandy. It is so interesting to read how the public reacted to Sterne after the books were published. What a character!

Piffka -- Did you by any chance hear Sherman Alexi describing the state of Washington today on NPR?

Oh, rats! Missed it. I like him, I think he's funny and he is a true Washingtonian. He gives good interviews. Maybe they'll replay it, I'll check around. Thanks.

Just finished school so i have the time to read now. How ironic that i can't read due to school commitments! Rolling Eyes Reading a Katharine Hepburn biography - Kate: Remembered. Its very good and draws you straight into her life. Next up, re-reading John Marsden's 'Tomorrow' series so i can start reading the new 'Ellie Chronicles', the sequel.

Powells! You went to Powell's without MEEEEEEE. I have only been to the Portland Airport. (You don't want to hear about it, whine.)

I think we need an a2k meet in Portland one day.

Powell's has a wish list, don't they? re McTag's book...

I like Portland...

Ah, just as I have six or seven ideas for novels at once, as do I read a lot at the same time. At the moment, I am reading 'Crime and Punishment' by Dostoevsky, re-reading 'The Poisonwood Bible', by Kingsolver, reading the 'Miller's Tale' out of the 'Canterbury tales' (in preperation for an unadulterated play version of it, which I wrote for a friend and in which I am going to star as Nicholas- talk about Olivier syndrome!) I'm also reading the Duchess of Malfì- I saw it a few nights ago at a little théâtre in Warwick, and the night itself was very amusing. Oh, and I'm reading Ficciones by Borges. And I have to read a huge list of things for my dissertation on the Mano Dura plans against gangs. I can't wait until I can read one bloody book at a time!
