Paper and comb is good.

I have no musical instrument talent whatsoever.

I was thinking of learning the guitar and the local college is offering harmonica lessons.

I taught myself to play the drums at age 13. For fifteen years I've played in silly bands like:

The Ropers
Skeletor
Lazer Fox
The Pandas
Female Trouble

I need a new band.

I was teaching myself bass guitar for about a year straight, then all of a sudden stopped earlier this year after I moved. Now I'm motivated to go teach myself more songs, such as by Nelson, Winger, and Extreme.

I had two years of piano in junior high. The ability to read music turned out to be useful when I worked in theater.

Play the piano, but not often enough to keep my skills really sharp. Played the clarinet and alto sax in high school (teacher wanted me to learn the oboe but I sounded so awful my mom made me practice in the garage so...)

I can't even carry a tune...

I did take several years of piano lessons as a child. I wouldn't say I had any talent whatsoever, but I liked playing. I was a child a long time ago...

I play guitar. I used to write songs and sing and actually almost even had a band at one time.

But now I only play with myself.

it was the same for me. essentially, it allows you to 'hear' the music when you see it written on a sheet - handy at musical rehearsals for example, for the first time 'read through', but also later, if you forget the melody.
