September Wheel Words

I can not get this one out with my crossword puzzle solver!

The letters are: D O F D O A L F E

I know the gadget I am using has American spelling.. but no S to change to a Z. I am missing something.

I am sure someone already has the answer for this one.

Still working on the Goliathon.

Wheel Words
Hi Mame,

Yes the Wheel Words are from Lovatts. The nine letters are to form a word (no proper names or plurals)

I came from Canada to live in Australia way back when! Good to hear from you.

Hi Vernamae - it's a toughie, eh? What were you referring to regarding the Z and S, though?

Where in Canada were you from?

Hi Mame,

In Australian spelling where you may use a Z we may sometimes use a S.

I came from Saskatchewan.

Yes, I am finding this one tough!

Well, Smarty Pants CJ just answered it for you! I was confused by your S and Z comment since there weren't any in that mixture!

Good on you, CJ...

Do you miss Saskabush, Vernamae?

Hi Calamity Jane,

Thank you for the answer. I would not have come up with that. Is Off Loaded one word.. do I even need one word. I may check this out with Lovatt's. I can't see a single word in it.

to me, off-loaded is hyphenated - are those allowed?

Hi Mame & Calamity Jane,

Yes, you are right. Off-loaded is hyphenated and I am told some dictionarys also have it as one word.

Thank you for all your help.

Hi!

I came up with OFFLOADED vernamae. Can't think of anything else.
Dutchy will probably drop in at some stage with his thoughts.

Good luck.

Hi All,
The Cambridge and Oxford Dictionaries have OFFLOAD as a non-hyphenated word
-------------
Compact Oxford English Dictionary
offload
• verb 1 unload (a cargo). 2 rid oneself of.
---------------------
offload
verb [T]
to get rid of something that you do not want by giving it to someone else:
I've managed to offload some of our old furniture onto a friend who's just bought a house.

Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary

I am betting on Offloaded

Hi Vernamea

My Encarta Concise English Dictionary shows "offload" as one word, have also located "offloaded" as one word in several dictionaries. So my answer is going in as "offloaded".

Have finished the September Big, so if you have any further queries, just post them.

Dutchy.

Hi Dutchy,

I still have the Goliathon to finish.. as you can see I got side-tracked yesterday. Very few were looking for answers last month so will see how we go this time around.

Thank you for your response.
