My first post...
Why is it common knowledge that cavemen/man made the wheel? Is caveman referring to a Neanderthal or a less primitive species of human? There are STILL cave-dwellers, who could be called cavemen and women, and we have obvious proof--Native American cave painting. So, ahem, why would a Neanderthal make a wheel? What would he/she need a wheel for? Why WAS the wheel originally invented? Maybe to make carts to haul bones, food, and rocks? If predecessors made the wheel, isn't that proof of evolution? Hahaha, I'm so confused. When the hell was the wheel made, what ARE cavemen, do religious people believe in cavemen, and why was the wheel originally created?
Some simple background on the wheel

No one knows when it came about but it is unlikely that it was created by cave dwellers and no evidence of it being in use before homo sapiens.

and I can't help myself....
I believe the Cro Magnon man created the wheel so that he could get insurance through GEICO.
Thank you Happycat...and that was funny.
The first wheel was probably not for transportation. It was more likely for making pottery, and then later someone decided to flip it onto its side.
Was not, Jespah!
Was invented by this cavewoman named Soo San, who couldn't be bothered reaching into the deep recesses of her cave for her dried herbs and grains and such, so she set up this wheel thingie in a corner cleft and stored her necessaries on it and the rest is history.
Soo San must have been quite lazy .
Why don't you folks consult the one and only caveman of the a2k family, Mathos, who actually lives in a cave.
Just in case you don't know him, here is his picture. You can usually find him in the "Trivia & Word Games" threads.

The old saying is wrong. It's not necessity.
Laziness is the mother of invention.
Invention is the mother of necessity.
