Virtual friendships (this is a rather sappy post)

It's funny how you can be a part of an online community, and though things are mostly fun and games, and you never really EXAMINED interactions on a personal level, how much you can really feel in your heart for someone that you never met in person. I know you guys know what I mean.

I felt it twice today, several times for 1 person. Really, I wasn't aware how much I cared about this person, but it's kinda cool, that I can be so open to my own feelings. Having friends, virtual ones I mean, is so cool.

I had several more moments of silence for Him. Well, you most of you know who I'm talking about. I went to his site today and they still have the memorial message up, with the instructions on where they wanted donations sent to, in lieu of sympathy cards and such. I cried (again) (away from my family though) such a loss of spirit.

I'm glad I know you guys (well, most of you )

I know I'm glad I know you.

and I know what you mean.

the first big online loss was a huge shock to me. I had no idea I could care so much about 'virtual' people. They're really real, and it communicates somehow.

it's true ehbeth, and i never considered it once before. I mean, how really involved you become with your peers online when you're 'together' so much.

Sappy or not, I think that over time a goodly percentage of long time posters speak fairly frankly at one time or another, sometimes more freely than in so-called real life. Sometimes not, of course.

We've had some big personal losses here, whether or not we'd met the person in real life.

It is a community, however ...... odd, and you're part of it, Onyx.

Onyx, I do indeed know what you mean. It's always shocking to realize how much this community means to me as a whole and as individuals.

Some of my a2k friends are closer to me than most people I know offline. There are just a few persons posting here, whom I don't really like, and they are no problem, ultimately. I would love to make a few of the meetings.

I with all you guys. It amazes me to know how many true friends I have right here, who I've never even met.

Ony, I missed you and worried when you were gone for a while. I tend to vanish for bits when my time gets consumed as well, but I never stop thinking about you all. Well, most of you :-)

You guys are my friends. I really don't have any friends where I live and people think I have no friends and I'm sure they would be quite surprised to know how many I have just here on A2K!

You guys are my family and I'm proud to be a part of this community :-D

People look at me funny, though, when I tell them stuff me and my friends on A2K have talked about.

They're like "what the hell is an A2K"? Laughing

My business partner reacted with genuine disgust the few times I mentioned my online friends at a2k (tongue to palate in a semi-loud 'tcccccch' sound.... ok, I exaggerate, in a virtual tcccccch sound) at the same time she was apparently envious of my real life friendships.

I tried to edit, that was meaner than I meant. She did have amazement about my friend support system, but envy would be the wrong word. The
tccccccccch was sheer incomprehension re an online place like this.
