John Lennon because it was so pointless and robbed the world of a great songwriter

The sudden loss of tense in this thread is making me tense. We should all live in tents.

Because they are my age.

For me, it was Princess Diana. Her death really touched me.

I read a lot about her over the years, and I remember being amazed that such a beautiful woman (inside and out) -- who seemed to have it all -- could have the same kind of problems and personal demons as the average person. She always seemed to hold it together so well.

It's hard enough to go from being a shy, immature teenager to an adult, and Diana not only managed to do that -- she did it under intense public scrutiny.

And there are so many stories about her reaching out and offering support to people who were suffering -- and how it not only helped them, but her as well.

She went from being the shy princess, riddled with insecurities and always looking down, to a strong woman who held her head up and had the confidence and presence of a queen -- even though she never had the official title. It was wonderful to watch her make that transition.

And it was tragic to see her life cut short! Sad

Her death really affected me, too. Of course, it happened right about the same time that Mother Teresa and my own mother died, too. All these important women, all at once... It seemed the whole world was in mourning.

Especially at my house. Crying or Very sad

I am hoping I will not be hit by any famous person passing, if they do I'll hit them right back!

Starting with Lucille Ball, all women comediennes, since while they are alive, they are, in my opinion, so much alive. To me, they have transcended gender stereotypes.
