Hungry ducks dart their orange beaks underwater in the frantic search for food. The birds were photographed by German born photographer Tobias Bernard in a stream that runs through farmland in New Zealand. Tobias attracted the birds with a handful of duck-feed pellets before positioning himself with his camera below the surface of the water. He lay stationary in the 4ft-deep stream - rooted down with a heavy weight belt and holding his breath to take the photos.

This is the moment a lucky seal escaped certain death - avoiding a great white shark's jaws by inches. The giant great white burst from the water only for the seal to bounce off the tip of its nose high into the air. On the way down, the hungry shark snapped, missing the airborne mammal by the smallest of margins. The incredible moment was captured by underwater photographer Sergio Riccardo who photographed the scene near Cape Town, South Africa.
