what is the "best" and most economical DSL service

Whether or not you migrate over to faster DSL service all depends on your data needs....casual or serious user..and the type of data demands and usage you want or need.

Personally, I'd avoid AOL like the plague.

Be aware that there's also now a choice in some areas for FiOs (Fiber optics service) which is screamingly fast for around $40 per month.
