"BLOOMSDAY" COMES TO BOSTON THANKS TO THE NEW CENTER FOR ARTS AND CULTURE AND BOSTON COLLEGE

Day-long Event Explores James Joyce's "Ulysses"

Who:
The New Center for Arts and Culture in partnership with the Office of the Provost at Boston College

What:
Bloomsday Boston 2007
This day long celebration includes actors, writers, scholars, and well-known Boston personalities taking the stage to read from the one of the most famous book in all of literature, James Joyce's "Ulysses". Musical interludes will take place among the readings about Leopold Bloom's wanderings through Dublin.

A panel discussing the local history of the relationships between the Irish and Jews in Boston will feature John Henning, WBZ Political Analyst as the moderator; James O'Toole, Professor of History at Boston College; Meaghan Dwyer, PH.D candidate at Boston College; and Michael Feldberg, PH.D, Director of Research, Jewish Historical Society.

This year's participants include:

Vivien Li, Executive Director of the Boston Harbor Association

Paula Lyons, Panelist on Says You! on NPR
Annette Miller, Actor
Stuart Mushlin, M.D., of Brigham and Women's Hospital
Brian O'Donovan, Host of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH-FM
Elizabeth Shannon, Author of The Diary of the Wife of the American Ambassador in Ireland
Jimmy Tingle, comic, actor, writer and political humorist
Rony Yedidia, Consul of Israel at the Consulate General of Israel

Patricia Riggin, Boston College Adjunct Assistant Professor of Theatre is Executive Producer and Charlotte Dietz is Associate Producer of the event.

Saturday, June 16, 2007
12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Where:
Bapst Library, 140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, Boston College

WHY:
This event represents the second collaboration between the New Center for Arts and Culture and Boston College. The collaboration reinforces the aims of both institutions to foster creative, thought provoking programming for audiences in Greater Boston.

The event is sponsored by Boston College and WBUR.

Admission:
The event is free and open to the public.
Handicap accessible.
Food and beverage will be served and for sale throughout the afternoon.
