Scaffold advertising

Plastering scaffold advertising on churches is a common advertising technique since a couple of years - another way to get money for renovations.

This was the intend in Salzburg as well. And now H & M offer their products on this church fassade - even over pentecost, as some complain.

Well its either raw scaffolding, or some kind of plastic wrap covered in the plastic brand logo, or faux stone with a large advertisement...but its all temporary, so who gives?

Tacky, in my opinion.

At the risk of betraying my rather conservative upbringing, I've gotta say I think it's hideous. But then I'm not a big fan of billboards of any description.

In general, tacky as all get out--but the money from Caesar will help to pay for the new roof.

In particular, I'm not thrilled about the Playful Bimbos, but if people attend services in shorts and brides are married in strapless dresses, a Playful Bimbo isn't the end of the world.

It's like they are running the church as though it is a business. GASP!

To the original question: I am so tired of every available surface being used for advertising. The visual noise level is enervating.

I understand that church towers and steeples are very suitable places for cell phone antennaes.

The rent for such electronic wiring can be very useful for the Church Fabric fund.

Hi newbie here chiming in:

Please don't. The last time I was in London was 2001 and I was absolutely appalled by the number of American corporations and billboard signs that were strung all over. That I can get here, I don't want to travel overseas and have it smack me in the face. I was with a guy from finland who wanted to eat at all the American places, like TGIF and McDonalds. I finally coaxed him into a pub for some real fish and chips.

Stay the way you are Europe, that is your charm.
