How do you know when it's time for a new mattress/bed?

MG! Get a new bloody mattress! It must be knackered! And really uncomfortable, but cos you've had it so long, you may not realise it.

I bought a new one 3 years ago. It wasn't particularly cheap and it's mashed already. Can't ever get a good nights sleep on it.

No, it hasn't been "pounded" much but I sit on it a lot to watch telly so maybe that has worn it down.

how do you know when it's time for a new mattress? When you wake up feeling sore in places, tired, when you flop around while trying to sleep not able to find a good position.

I'd go to a mattress store and try a few out. See how they feel. It may make a huge difference in your life.

Yes Dag, that's exactly how I feel after a night on my mattress. What a waste of money.

I don't think it would have the same effect as being on a boat.

Probably not very nice when you've had too much to drink though.

Yeah, but how long have you had it? And is it taking a regular pounding, like Dorothy's?

And I have never seen Gus post something so humorless on a thread about beds.

I'm not pissed. That was funny, unlike your (yawn) post about Dag being too serious. We expect better from you, Gus.

But...

I guess I really should cut you some slack today, since you just found out about Lash's infidelity. That sorta thing can really destroy a person's sense of humor. My sympathies, Gus. Be gentle with yourself while you're going through this valley of despair.
