Interesting topic Roberta, and I agree, it is fascinating how - through
written word only - one can find some writers very "simpatico" while others
are hard to read. Kindred spirits will meet, regardless of its setting.

What I like is the opportunity to meet people of all walks of life I never
would have had any interaction with otherwise, and where in "real life"
a very shy person could easily be overlooked, in a forum as such,
everyone has the floor to speak and be heard equally (time permitting).

It is fascinating, isn't it?

I often find myself wishing that certain A2Kers and I lived closer together. (Like Dys & Diane...I'm still laughing at Dys' post!)

Then I realize that even if we did live in the same town, I probably wouldn't talk to them any more often than I do here.

A2K reminds me of a small town. I like that.

Jane, I agree. I enjoy talking to people I would never get a chance to meet. Never thought about shy, but shy wouldn't make much difference here, would it. Who would know? But I think we can kinda guess who isn't shy, can't we?

Eva, I think it depends on the people. I miss having Diane in the East. Saw her far more often than I do now. But she met up with some poopity head guy and left for some wilderness out west somewhere. Go figure.

Well I know what a lot of folks think about my persona, and I've developed a much tougher skin after three years on A2K than I had when I made my first posts. I finally accepted myself as a 'different drummer' that is going to attract more hostility than most do I guess, but I have also devleoped some pretty special relationships to cherish. Would you believe I'm the quiet, reserved, and nonoffensive one on some other forums where I play now and then? Smile

I am rarely completely surprised when I meet somebody in real life that I met first on line. I always suspect they will be surprised at who I am in real life, but find out those I actually get to meet know me pretty well after all. But then I've never had the chance to really get to know anybody who doesn't like me here. That might be interesting.

Anyhow, both friends and foes, I've enjoyed my time here and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it.

Right. Sorry you and I don't get along, but I just can't stand people from Munich.
