I have always thought that "The Demon Breed" by James H. Schmitz would make a nice sci-fi flick.
The book "Aatami ja Eeva" (Adam and Eve) by Finnish author Arto Paasilinna, would make a nice black comedy that deals with topical environmental concerns.
And the epic poem "Aniara" by Hary Martinson could be the inspiration for a film in the spirit of Kubrick's 2001.
The book that I have always wanted to see filmed, "De Scheepsjongens van Bontekoe" (The Cabin Boys of Bontekoe) by Johan Fabricius, is actually being filmed:
